Why We Like It

The Chase Slate® Card is one of our top-rated balance transfer cards. It also has no annual fee and could be a no-cost way to pay down credit card debt.

Named "Best Credit Card for Balance Transfers" three years in a row by MONEY Magazine, the Chase Slate® Card is an excellent choice if you need to consolidate high amounts of debt from another credit card.

Balance transfer fees are 0% for transfers made within the first 60 days. Other cards usually have a 3% transfer fee so if you move $5,000 of debt from another card, you'd have to pay a $150 fee immediately. But not with Chase Slate® during the first 60 days!

You'll pay 0% APR for the first 15 months on balance transfers, plus any purchases in the first 15 months. This could be a great choice if you're looking to finance a big upcoming purchase because you don't have cash on hand right now.

If you're paying ANY interest on balances from another credit card, you should seriously look into a card like the Chase Slate®. It could help you pay down your debt faster.

Bonus Offer

Get an introductory APR rate of 0% for first 15 billing cycles for BOTH purchases and balance transfers from the date of account opening

About

We recommend you have Good to Excellent (690 - 850) credit before applying for this card.

You can transfer up to $15,000, or your credit limit (whichever is lower) onto your Slate® Card immediately, including fees and interest, from credit cards, gas cards, or store cards you hold with other financial institutions. They cannot be affiliated with Chase.

After the first 60 days your account is open, the fee for future balance transfers is 5% of the amount transferred, with a minimum of $5.

Paying late won't raise your interest rate (APR) but don't take advantage of this great perk. You'll have a Grace Period of 21 days after the close of each billing cycle before possibly being charged interest on your balance.

Additional benefits include:

  • Free Monthly FICO Score: Updated based on data from Experian. See how your payment schedule affects your credit score and work to increase it
  • Price Protection: if make a purchase and find a lower price advertised within 90 days, be reimbursed the difference
  • Purchase Protection: cover new purchases made with the card for 120 days against damage or theft
  • No penalty APR: Paying late won't raise your interest rate.

Thoughts from Actual Users

"I was first introduced to this card about a year ago. I was searching for a card that had 0% transfer balances. I was about to make a large purchase, and wanted to transfer it to this card. I applied for the card, and then spoke with one of the representatives. I asked him some questions about the balance transfer, and he told me that initial purchases were also 0% for a year. I was excited to hear that, and simply used this card for the purchase." Corey H. of Bethlehem, PA

"This card is saving me hundreds and headaches! I am so glad i applied for this card. I received a $3500 credit limit and I need to transfer about $2500 of debt! This will give me a chance to completely erase debt." Sarah Y. of San Jose, CA

"I already have a Chase Preferred Sapphire card, but wanted to take advantage of the 0% transfer and balance fee to pay off my much higher 22% Sam's Club mastercard. They approved it and working on the transfer now. Makes it even more convenient that I can now view all of my bank, savings, and chase credit cards in one place on one site. " Brad V. of Austin, TX
